26 THE STILL PLACE IN THE
HEART OF LIFE
PRAY Lord, help me to
discover new things about you and the peace you
offer.
READ Psalm 23:16.
THINK List the pictures of
God that this Psalm gives you.
FOCUS Today you will have a
chance to use your imagination to build
stronger links with the Lord.
The object is to concentrate on the
pictures contained in this
great song so that they are built into
your life for the coming
week.
You may not live near any
green pastures, but you can visit them
in your mind in the company
of the Son of God. Use your
imagination to build up a
picture of a beautiful grassy field
glowing in the sun. There is
a gentle breeze which just stirs the
many coloured flowers,
overhead in the warm blue sky a bird is
singing. You walk out into
the field and lie down with Jesus. What
will you share with him
there in the peace and warm sun?
Now you are walking together
beside a clear sparkling stream. What
words of blessing and
comfort do you want to hear from him?
Now you are in a dark and
lonely place. All the terrors of your
life line the rocky path and
mock you. But with you is a
companion. His hand is on
yours and his eyes are always seeking
yours. In the joy and
brilliance of his presence the terrors fade
into insignificance.
Finally you arrive at a
place where all those forces that prevent
you growing are assembled.
In an unhurried way Jesus gathers a
meal of all your favourite
things. He gathers you in his arms and
you can feel the strength
and love that he has for you.
PRAISE Thank God that he is
with you, never to leave you or forsake you,
for every minute of your
life.
