I have become a bit disapointed recently with our church. It seems that the congregation has become to glum and seem to do to many things to routinely. I have recently been attending First Baptist Church, in Woodstock, GA. I am so impressed with the spontanaiety of the people and the joy and love the people express for the Lord. The children and teenagers alike just seem to want to stay at church indefinetly. It always has seemed to me that when I have gone to any Lutheran church that the pastor had to be on a strict time schedule and when I would look around at the congregation you would see adults constantly looking at their watches. Why is there such a differance between the Baptist way where the pastor can preach how ever long he wants and the Lutheran pastors who have to always hurry it up? This obviously bothers me a great deal. I feel that Sunday is the Lord's day and we should not worry about time. (01/07/97)

I would be interested in seeing your list of translations grow: including the New Jerusalem Bible, Today's English Version, the Revised English Bible and perhaps one or two of the better paraphrases. I have always felt that seeing the way different translators dealt with difficult passages can be as illuminating as a good commentary. (01/17/97)
