GOD REMEMBERS
Jere. 31:20
INTRODUCTION:
A. Memory refers to the ability to retain or revive in the mind
past thoughts, images, ideas, etc.
B. The fact that God remembers is awesome
C. But these memories are "earnest" memories. Webster defines
earnest as, "1. serious and intense; not joking or playful;
zealous and sincere; deeply convinced. 2. important; not
petty or trivial"
I. GOD REMEMBERS UNREPENTED SIN
A. Some people think that God either doesn't see or will forget
B. Hosea 7:2, "And they consider not in their hearts that I
remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have
beset them about; they are before my face."
C. Rev. 16:19, "Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give
unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath"
D. But Hebrews 8:12 tells us that when we repent, "[God] will be
merciful to [our] unrighteousness, and [our] sins and [our]
iniquities will [he] remember no more"
E. Jere. 31:34, says that if we know the Lord, "[He] will for-
give [our] iniquity, and [He] will remember [our] sin no more"
II. GOD REMEMBERS OUR PRAYERS
A. 2 Chron. 7:17, "If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and
turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
B. Rev. 8:4, "And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers
of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand"
C. Rev. 5:8 tells how our prayers are kept in golden vials and
described as "full of odours, which are the prayers of saints"
III. GOD REMEMBERS OUR VOWS
A. Obedience & faithfulness to God, labor & love for others
B. Ec. 5:4, "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay
it; for he hath no pleasure in fools"
IV. GOD REMEMBERS HIS LOVE FOR US
A. At least a half dozen scriptures tell us that God will
remember His covenant with man
B. Jere 31:3, "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee"
C. Ps. 78:38-39, "But he, being full of compassion, forgave
their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time
turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that
passeth away, and cometh not again."
D. Ps. 98:2-3, "The Lord hath made known his salvation: his
righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the
heathen. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth"
E. 1 Jn. 3:16, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he
laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives
for the brethren"
