THE GREAT PROVIDER

Mk. 8:1-10

INTRODUCTION:

I. HE KNOWS OUR NEEDS

A. He knows the difference between wants and needs

1. They were hungry

2. "Blessed are they which do dunger and thirst after

righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Mt. 5:6)

B. He observes the price we are willing to pay

1. He recognized that they had come from far

2. He is aware if we try to "keep back part of the price

of the land" (Acts 5:3, Ananias & Sapphira)

3. 1 Chron. 21:24, "I will not...[offer unto the Lord]

burnt offerings without cost." (David to Ornan)

C. He requires that we give all to Him first

1. Mt. 6:32,33, "For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye

have need of all these things. But seek ye first the

Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these

things shall be added unto you."

2. De. 4:29, "But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord

thy God, thou shalt find him if thou seek him with all

thy heart and with all thy soul."

II. HE CARES THAT WE HAVE NEEDS

A. "I have compassion on the multitudes"

B. "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you

(Jn. 14:18)

C. Mt. 7:7, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye

shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

D. This is the third time in Mt. alone that it is said that

Jesus had compassion on the multitude.

III. HE IS ABLE TO SUPPLY ALL OUR NEEDS

A. Ph. 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need accord-

ing to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus"

B. Ps. 23:1, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."

C. Ps. 24:1, "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof"

D. The cattle upon a thousand hills are God's (Ps. 50:10)

E. Ps. 84:11, "No good thing will he withhold from them that

walk uprightly."

F. De. 8:18, "Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is

He that giveth thee power to get wealth"

G. 1 Chron. 29:12, "Both riches and honour come of thee, and

thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is pwer and might;

and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength

unto all."

ALTAR CALL:

A. 1 Pet. 5:7, "Casting all your care upon Him; for he careth

for you."

B. Is. 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not

dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; Yea,

I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right

hand of my righteousness."

C. Ps. 31:23, "O love the Lord, all ye his saints; for the

Lord preserveth the faithful"

D. 2 Tim. 4:18, "The Lord shall deliver me from every evil

work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom"
