INTRODUCTION: MAN HAS A CONSUMING DESIRE FOR KNOWLEDGE
A. Record number of enrollments at colleges & universities
B. Science expanding: Rate of technology double in five years
C. Man desires spiritual knowledge of unknown
1. Religious cults are thriving
2. Satan Worship is on the rise
3. Witchcraft and spiritism is growing quickly
a. Record numbers of such books are being sold
b. Spirit mediums on many crime forces
c. Palm readers in almost every town or burg
d. Astrology columns in 90% of daily newspapers
I. MAN'S SEARCH NEVER DISCOVERS THE SOURCE OF ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE
A. 2 Tim. 3:5-7 "Having a form of Godliness... Ever learning,
and never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth."
B. Discovers new technologies, stratagies, techniques, etc
1. New products are being released constantly
2. New cures for diseases are being discovered
3. New methods are found for more effecient and effective
use of our limited resources
C. Never accept that God is the Source of Knowledge & Authority
D. Never seek Him for:
1. Direction for their lives
2. Deliverance from sin in their hearts
3. Power to live an overcoming life
E. They are searching for ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE and....
II. EVEN CHRISTIANS DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING
A. "Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand..."
B. "What will heaven be like?"
1. Not "like" anything!
2. 1 Cor. 2:9, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither
have entered into the heart of man, the things which God
hath prepared for them that love him."
C. "Will I know my loved ones?"
1. Why wouldn't you know them?
2. We will know Jesus, the Father, Saints, etc.
D. "What will happen to those who don't make it?"
1. We can be certain that God will judge righteously
2. Our main concern should be as Peter said, (2 Peter 1:10)
"Give diligence to make your calling and election sure"
