Gem #75 - The God of the Christians

God is love in its highest degree. He is love rendered more than love.

Love is not God, but God is love; He is full of grace, He is the abundant

source of mercy--He delights in mercy. As high as the heavens are above

the earth, so high are His thoughts of love above our thoughts of despair;

and His ways of grace above our ways of fear. This God, in whom these

three great attributes harmonize--unlimited sovereignty, inflexible

justice, and unfathomable grace--these three make up the main attributes of

the one God of heaven and earth whom the Christians worship.
