BASIC R.C. BELIEF

The Latin translation of the Bible by St. Jerome (5th century). For over

1500 years it was the only authorized text from which a translation could

be made. It was responsible for a number of doctrinal errors. St. Jerome

included the Apocrypha but did not give it full standing as scripture.

In recent years, Roman Catholic translations have been allowed from the

Greek text.
