STIPEND

BASIC R.C. BELIEF

An offering made to the priest for services rendered; the most common is

the Mass stipend. Roman Catholics are not paying for God's blessings

received at Mass, but only giving an offering for the support of the

priest.

The scriptural "proof" is Deuteronomy 18:1-8 and Matthew 10:9-10.

CHRISTIAN COMMENT

Irish Roman Catholics say, "High money, high Mass; low money, low Mass; no

money, no Mass."
