BASIC R.C. BELIEF

Nine days (or once a week for nine weeks) of public or private prayer,

usually in preparation for some feast. This practice is supposed to come

from the nine days after Christ's Ascension that the Apostles waited for

the Holy Spirit, or from the nine months Jesus spent in Mary's womb before

His birth.
