From the chair (of Peter); formal statements concerning faith and morals

are made by the Pope ex cathedra are infallible. In over 100 years since

papal infallibility was defined, only one papal statement is accepted by

all as "ex cathedra." That was when Pius XII defined the Assumption of Mary

(11/1/50).
