3/1/99

Added a preliminary version of Calvin's Commentaries, complete. This edition needs further work and is subject to change. It is a result of the joint efforts of volunteers for the CCEL and the OnLine Bible project and the good folks at @Ages Software. The files currently on line are HTML exported from Word 2000 and modified with a perl program to remove some of the ms-specific extensions to HTML. The files are large, averaging around 1MB and topping out at over 2MB. Skip Gaeda and Bruce Lambert are working on conversion to ThML and thence to OnLine Bible format. If you are interested in helping out, let me know (@whp).

Added a quick HTML version of Schaff's 8-volume History of the Christian Church, made by exporting the Electonic Bible Society RTF files as HTML in Word 2000. A better version is in the works -- but this one isn't bad.

Added one-file HTML editions of Andrew Murray's The Lord's Table and F. B. Meyer's The Secret of Guidance. These are exported in HTML format directly from Word 2000. Take a look at the HTML that Word 2000 generates -- it captures everything in the word file! I think I'll start archiving these HTML files rather than RTF files, since everything in the RTF file is in the HTML file.
I do plan to format these and other books in ThML, though, so we can make multiple file versions and have the other features offered by ThML.

The following etexts have been generated from XML files in Theological Markup Language (ThML). These are the first, but the hope is eventually that all major books on the CCEL be in ThML format. Please give me feedback on the HTML that has been generated, as the program that generates HTML is still under development.

In honor of the 250th Anniversary of the death of Dr. Isaac Watts, who lived 17th July 1674 - 25th November 1748, Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts has been added.
This was scanned and formatted in ThML by Stephen Hutcheson and converted to HTML by a program. (Hopefully all of the most important CCEL books will eventually be formatted in ThML and converted to HTML with a successor of this program.)
