71. Zosimus (1. v. [c. 26] p. 331) transports the war and
the victory of Stilicho beyond the Danube. A strange error,
which is awkwardly and imperfectly cured by reading **** for
**** (Tillemont, Hist. des Emp. tom. v. p. 807). In good
policy, we must use the service of Zosimus, without
esteeming or trusting him.
