curious and authentic intelligence, ascribes the choice of
Valentinian to the praefect Sallust, the master-general
Arintheus, Dagalaiphus count of the domestics, and the
patrician Datianus, whose pressing recommendations from
Ancyra had a weighty influence in the election.
